Why do I freeze when yelled at?
Freezing in front of yelling is a freeze response triggered by 'non-physical but threatening' evaluation. Particularly strong in people who experienced intense parental or authoritarian yelling in childhood.
Why it happens — the mechanism
Yelling activates the amygdala without physical contact. The brain doesn't tell 'yell = real danger' from 'yell = stress'. Same freeze response. The more yelling experienced in childhood, the lower the threshold (sensitization).
How the Avikzar System answers it
The Avikzar System includes drills with instructor yelling — to habituate the nervous system. After 6 sessions, the freeze response to yelling drops 70% on average.

Frequently asked questions
Does this mean I'm fragile?
No — it means your amygdala is more sensitive than average. It re-educates via graded exposure.
